Chris, Shawn & Brooklyn flew out to spend a week with Brittni, Jordan, and Baozi the first week in June. We rented a little cabin up near Lake Tahoe for a few days. Made a stop at Shark Fin Cove (one of our favorite spots along the coast) on our way down to Santa Cruz. Spent a day whale watching and soaked up lots of sunshine and fresh air.
Chris & Shawn flew down to Kansas City over the 4th of July to catch the Blue Angels & Thunderbirds performing together. We snagged tickets for the Friday night Royals game. Baseball, fireworks & fighter jets. The only thing missing for a perfect holiday weekend was family. So we decided to fix that by stopping in South Dakota "on the way" home. A picnic lunch in the park and an afternoon boat ride rounded out our spontaneous Independence day adventure.
A few weeks later we flew out to Nebraska to celebrate Chris' 50th birthday with his favorite cousins. Our first experience "tanking" down a river, some small-town waterpark fun courtesy of the local fire department, plenty of golf cart rides to the corner store for snacks, and a lost drone. Oh, and also a pancake breakfast, fish fry and outdoor movie night. We ended the trip with airplane rides for a couple of our favorite kiddos before heading home.
In August we borrowed our friend Larry's airplane (Thank you Larry π) to fly with Jordan and Brittni over to Chicago for the Chicago Air & Water Show. Chris' brother Pete spoiled us with a fancy table at the Castaways beach club. Best spot to watch the show by far. We wandered through the zoo and downtown and had dinner with Chris' niece & nephew and great niece in Wilmette before heading home.
